The 2012 William Reid Stakes is set to run at Moonee Valley racecourse this Friday March 23, 2012, and here you will find the final field and barrier information for the race.
Hay List is one of eight horses that have accepted to run in the $400,000 race, which was last year won by the great Black Caviar.
The six-year-old Hay List proved just what he could do without the presence of Black Caviar when winning the $1 million Newmarket Handicap at Flemington last start.
The Statue Of Liberty gelding claimed victory while carrying a large 58.5 kilograms.
Hay List has won 15 of his 22 race starts and has earned close to $2.5 million in prize money.
The gelding has drawn well in barrier four and will be ridden by jockey Glyn Schofield.
Also included in the 2012 William Reid Stakes final field and barrier draw is Rekindled Interest, who is having his first start for the autumn in the race.
Rekindled Interest finished third in his most recent start in the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes during last year’s spring behind Glass Harmonium and Mourayan.
The Redoute’s Choice gelding has won three of his 13 race starts and has earned more than $760,000 in prize money.
Trainer Jim Conlan believes Rekindled Interest will be close to top form come this Friday’s 2012 William Reid Stakes.
“As far as the preparation goes I think he’s going terrific,” Conlan said.
“Friday night they might be a little bit slick for him, but he’ll run very well.
“He’s in great order.
“All his work has been first class.”
Conlan feels Rekindled Interest will be back bigger and better after his lenghty summer spell.
“He’s a lot stronger now, he’s matured, he looks great and he’s as sound as he’s ever been,” he said.
“The hot speed will suit him but Hay List tends to be up on a hot speed and keeps running at a hot speed and Buffering is the same.
“It would appear they have better form over the six furlongs than us, but he will perform very well on the night.
“Whether that’s good enough to win, probably not, but it will still be a great run for him.”
Buffering, Woorim and Beaded are also included in the 2012 William Reid Stakes final field.
