Final Field & Barriers – 2013 William Reid Stakes

March 18th, 2013

The final field and barrier draw has been announced for the William Reid Stakes, which is scheduled to run at Moonee Valley racecourse this Friday March 22, 2013.

A total of seven horses have accepted for the Group 1 William Reid Stakes final field, including champion mare Black Caviar.

Black Caviar will be out to extend her winning run in the 2013 William Reid Stakes to an unbelievable 24 unbeaten starts.

The six-year-old won her last start in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes, setting a course record in the process.

Seemingly unstoppable, Black Caviar has drawn barrier six for the 2013 William Reid Stakes and will be ridden by regular jockey Luke Nolen in the race.

Also included in the 2013 William Reid Stakes final field and barrier draw is Linton.

Trainer John Sadler is excited about the opportunity to race Black Caviar with Linton, however, is resigned to the fact that they will finish second best.

“She’s the best I’ve ever seen,” Sadler said.

“Makybe Diva is the best stayer I’ve ever seen and Vain was the best sprinter I’d ever seen up until Black Caviar.

“It’s just good to have something that runs against her. I don’t know how I’d feel if I ever beat her – but that won’t happen.”

Linton has won four of his 20 race starts and has earned more than $890,000 in prize money.
