Karuta Queen will face off against Black Caviar for the second time in her career when she runs in the Group 1 William Reid Stakesat Moonee Valley Racecourse tonight March 22, 2013.
The four-year-old finished a gallant second to the super mare on their last meeting in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes at Caulfield in November, 2011.
Now Karuta Queen will be searching for second once again when she lines up in the $400,000 race.
Jockey Tommy Berry will be reunited with the Not A Single Doubt filly, who helped launch his career when the two paired up in her two-year-old season.
“Obviously my Group One wins have been massive highlights, but that is right up there at the top as well,” Berry said of his partnership with Karuta Queen.
“I’m really excited to get back on her and really liked her first-up run after a fair while off,” Berry said.
“She’s going back to Moonee Valley where I think her best win was at in the Group Three race on Cox Plate day (in 2011).”
Karuta Queen has won six of her sixteen race starts and has earned more than $1.75 millon in prize money during her horse racing career.
The mare’s biggest win came as a juvenile when she won the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast.
